About Kobus Genis
I was born in beautiful South Africa in the city of Bellville. I am a PK, not a Police kid but a Pastor’s kid.
When I was young, I often asked my father questions about the Bible. Many of my questions brought a smile to his face, as if his smile was an attempt to tell me something about God’s greatness. Today, I still have more questions than answers. God’s greatness astounds me.
Despite six years of theology studies at the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa, reading the Bible had left me frustrated (probably because I was too young to appreciate theology). I had difficulty forming a complete picture of the Bible. I also did not always know how to apply the truths in the Bible to current issues, such as abortion and homosexuality. I believe my frustrations were the impetus for my passion to help others understand the Bible and apply their understanding thereof.
I obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Theology (BTh) from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa, and served as a minister in South Africa from 1992-2003. Since 2003 my family and I have been living in sunny Alberta, Canada, where I serve as a minister at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Calgary.
